Im somewhat new to watercolor making (since aug) and everything has been doing great! i even use your binder recipe every time (thank you so much for that) the last few batches of color I've done have not completely solidified. after weeks of drying, they're still super sticky, will come off when i touch it. what is it that i am doing wrong? I'm thinking maybe too much binder..? I measure every thing out, might add a few drops as I'm mulling if i feel it is too thick. any help would be amazing! I'm also on Insta with you (@island.waterclors) I am opening shop next week (all shipping supplies are otw)
PS this is the 2nd time I've used your recipe and I didn't use honey (for reason you stated hopefully helping it to dry faster)

I have had a similar problem when using too much glycerine in my binder. Do you measure your ingredients by volume or weight? This may have something to do with it.
Also, some pigments require more or less binder, so maybe you are using too much?
I don't know if this helps, but I hope you can get everything sorted out soon! There is nothing worse than sticky paint.
Hi there,
I think I would need more information like your climate conditions and the pigment you are working with? If mica, there is a video demonstration of binder to pigment ratio. Often beginners add too much binder to pigment ratio which takes too long to set. If it is a climate issue i.e. humidity - you may need to adapt your binder recipe to your climate or invest in drying options like a food dehydrator or desiccant beads.
