Is it possible to mix mica pigments with regular matte paint pigments? I have some ideas in my mind, but I don’t know if mixing micas with regular pigments is a bad idea.
In my limited experience is a totally GOOD idea!!! you can mix and match and discover the most wonderful combinations, you only have to remember what pigments you throw into the mix and their “characters“ (like is the matte granulating? Does it settle well? Does it crack? Is the color of the mica making the hue shift? Is the matte killing the shimmer? Things like that...)
mulling time will probably be longer according to which matte you put in...
Yes!!!!!! Giulia answer is perfection! I keep a notebook with my recipes in or otherwise write the pigments you used on the back of the test Swatch or next to. Happy experimenting!

After mulling mica, I allways have a bit of it sticking to the slab.
I put a bit of regular Pigment onto that slab and mull it with the stains 😋
Often I need to add more mica though.
Thank you all!! That’s exactly what I needed to know. I look forward to playing around with all the colors!
